Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the tour start from?

I will personally greet you at your hotel lobby on the day of your private tour.Tours can also start from most local airports, train stations, bus stations and cruise ship terminals in Scotland.

How many passengers would be on the tour?

Tours are exclusive only to you and your family/group, no other passengers will be on the tour. Tours can be organised from 1 to 7 passengers.

What type of vehicle do you use for tours?

I operate a luxury Mercedes Viano, one of the largest and most comfortable minivans on the road, and can accommodate up to 7 passengers comfortably. Your vehicle is also fitted out with individual 3 point seat belts offering comfort and safety during your travels. My vehicle can easily carry luggage for up to 7 passengers, although i would ask if you can limit this to a medium sized case plus hand luggage per person if 7 are travelling, again for safety and comfort. To enhance your experience i also supply a cooler with complimentary water and Scottish music to enjoy during your trip.

What is included in the price of the tour?

Tour prices are quoted in pounds sterling ( £s) per day, and not per person, and vary depending on how many passengers are travelling on the day. Prices include all my services as your private tour guide/driver, vehicle insurance, taxes, all fuel costs, itinerary planning, guides daily expenses, all vehicle maintenance, parking fees, cooler with complimentary water, Scottish music, and transfers from your hotel or preferred location.

please note- prices do not include your accommodation, lunch, evening meals, entry fees to attractions, and ferry costs. ( where applicable) unless otherwise arranged by myself or client.

Who shall be our guide/driver on the tour?

I will personally be your guide/driver for the duration of the tour. If for some extreme circumstance i am not available i will use another local Scottish tour guide. However i will inform you of any changes prior to your tour.

Will you be with us for the duration of the tour?

Yes? i shall be guiding/driving you from when we leave your accommodation in the morning ( 9 am) until dropping you of at your hotel/guest house in the evening.( 5-6 pm) As regards to what to see and do in the evenings? i can recommend the best wee! inns or restaurants serving locally sourced produce including some of the best seafood in Scotland. I can also suggest the best places to enjoy traditional Scottish music. ( mostly weekends)

As regards to visiting castles and other historic locations. I shall personally guide you through most sights and castle ruins. However please bare in mind some historic castles and stately homes have there own guided tours offering a more detailed perspective on the history of the building.

Are your tours flexible?

Yes? the beauty of my private tours is the flexibility, even after we have set off. I don’t stick to rigid timetables like scheduled coach tours, and you won’t be taking photo’s of historic sights from a distance. We shall get up close and personal with the best that Scotland has to offer, getting of the typical tourist routes when ever possible, and explore many of the highlands beautiful villages and people.

What about accommodation?

I will happily book this for you based on your daily budget and sleeping arrangements. Over the years i have accumulated an excellent list of traditional and modern accommodation. From luxury/castle hotels to smaller traditional inns and guest houses, all to suite individual budgets.

prices start from around £30-40 per person per night for a b&b. Small guest houses/hotels, £50-70 per person per night. luxury castle/hotels from £70-160 per person per night.
