1 Day Tour: Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond & Glengoyne Distillery.

A firm favorite with my guests, and a must visit during your stay in Scotland. On this tour we visit the mighty Stirling Castle, steeped in history and sight of many a bloody battle against invading English,armies during the wars of independence in the 13th & 14th centuries. Loch Lomond, one of Scotland’s most scenic locations. And a tour of Glengoyne Distillery, for those who want to experience the ancient art of distilling.

Full Tour Package Information

You will be met at reception 9 am by Ricki your driver/guide for the day. We then travel to the imposing Stirling Castle, one the finest medieval castles in Scotland. Several Scottish Kings and Queens have been crowned at Stirling including Mary, Queen of Scots in 1542. Mary’s infant son James v1 was crowned at the near by Church of the Holly Rood and grew up within the castle walls. In later years Stirling Castle, witnessed it’s last siege when in 1746 Bonnie Prince Charlie, unsuccessfully tried to take the castle. After a wander through the old medieval town we travel the short distance to the National Wallace Monument, opened in 1869 to commemorate Wallace’s victory ( braveheart) at Stirling bridge in 1297.

Leaving Stirling we then visit the impressive 14th century Doune Castle, location for the movie ” Monty Python and the Holy Grail” before taking the scenic route over the Dukes Pass, to Loch Lomond Scotland’s longest fresh water loch and most celebrated in poem and song. Moving on we head to Glengoyne Distillery, for a 1 hour experience in the ancient art of Whisky distilling. We then make our journey back to Glasgow or where ever you are based. arrival time approx 6 pm.
