4 Day Tour: The Highlands! and the enchanting Isle of Sky.

Experience the magical Isle of Skye, and discover why the Misty Isle has been voted one of the top five must visit islands in the world by lonely planet. Discover a land steeped in myth and legends, so wild and rugged it will simply take your breath away. On this tour we also visit the mysterious Loch Ness, and the natural beauty of Glencoe & the Highlands.

Full Tour Package Information

Day 1- We travel to the picturesque village of Luss, on the “Bonnie” banks of Loch Lomond. Time here to explore the village and it’s 10th century Viking Grave. Moving on we follow the shores of Loch Lomond, stopping to view the Falls of Falloch, and the iconic Drover’s Inn ( voted pub of the year in 1705) before heading through the wide expanse of Rannoch Moor and Glen Etive, finally reaching the spectacular mountain pass of Glencoe. time here to take in the scenery and learn of the tragic events of the Glencoe Massacre in 1692. Continuing on we follow the shores of Loch Linnhe to the pretty town of Fort William, for the evening. arrival time approx 6 pm.

Day 2- Firstly we visit the Jacobite, steam train. ( Hogwarts express in the Harry Potter Movies) then journey to the Glenfinning Viaduct and Monument. ( photo stop) Continue along the Road to the isles, to Camusdarach Beach location for the movie Local hero. Journey onto Mallaig, where we board the 35 min ferry crossing over the sea to Skye. Once on the island we then travel north ( photo stops along the way) to Talisker Distillery for a 1 hour tour and a wee dram. ( if not interested in whisky we can visit the fairy pools at glen brittle) Moving on we then head to Portree, the capital of Skye for the evening. arrival time approx 6-7 pm.

Day 3- More time to explore Skye. Firstly we follow the spectacular Trotternish Ridge, stopping to view the Old Man of Stoer, Kilt Rock and the Quirang, a spectacular series of landslips and pinnacles. Continuing on we leave the island by way of the Skye Bridge, to the evocative Eilean Donan Castle. ( time here for photo’s or tour) We then travel through the beautiful Glen Shiel Mountains, ( photo stops along the way) and Glen Moriston to the mysterious Loch Ness. Options here of a 1 hour cruise to capture that allusive image of Nessie, or visit the impressive ruins of Urquhart Castle, where most sightings of Nessie have been seen from Grant’s tower. Leaving Loch ness, we make the short drive to Inverness, for the evening. arrival time approx 6-7 pm.

Day 4- Firstly we visit Culloden Battlefield, sight of the last battle ever fought between Jacobite’s led by Bonnie Prince Charlie and Government troops in 1746. A short drive from here we stop to explore the Clava Cairns, a 3,5000 yr old burial sight before journeying south through the Cairngorm National Park, to the pretty Victorian town of Pitlochry. ( option here for lunch or to explore the town’s gift shops) Moving on we shall visit the Hermitage waterfall and Dunkeld Cathedral, once an important early Christian Centre. We then make our way back to Glasgow, or where ever you are based.
