6 Day Tour; Highland’s and Islands Adventure!

Discover the hidden charms of Scotland’s stunning coastline’s and golden sandy beaches. Complimented with historic castle’s and spectacular mountain landscapes. Explore the wonderful island of Iona, renowned for it’s beauty and tranquility, and for being the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland. Experience the magical Island of Skye’s diverse pre-historic landscape and ancient castle’s. For seafood lovers, the west coast also has some of the finest seafood restaurants anywhere in the world.

Full Tour Package Information

Day 1- Your day begins with a visit to the mighty Stirling Castle and the National Wallace Monument. After exploring the old medieval town we head west stopping to view the 15th century Doune Castle, famous for the movie location ” Monty Python and the Holy Grail” We then travel through the beautiful Trossach’s countryside, stopping to visit Rob Roy’s Grave and the pretty village of Killin. ( time for lunch here) Continuing on we then travel to the impressive ruin of Kilchurn Castle, a former 15th century Clan Campbell stronghold. From here we head to the bustling harbour town of Oban, for the next two evenings. Arrival time approx 6-7 pm.

Day 2- Catch the 9;45 am ferry ( 35 min) over to Craignure ( Isle of Mull) we then travel south ( 1 hour) to Fionnphort, to board the short 15 min ferry to Iona. Here you will have free-time to explore the island including the Abbey, a place of pilgrimage for over 1400 yrs and the “street of the dead” resting place of ancient Scottish Kings. Iona also has some the finest beaches to discover, and if the weather is kind a good idea for a picnic. In the late afternoon ( 4;30 pm) we head back to Craignure, to catch the ferry back to Oban arrival time approx 7;00 pm.

Day 3- Visit the iconic Castle Stalker, and the spectacular mountains of Glencoe. Continue on to Fort William, and the Road to the Isles, stop to view the Glenfinning Viaduct and Monument. From here we visit Camusdarach Beach location for the movie Local Hero, then onto Malliag for the ferry crossing over the sea to Skye. ( 35 min) Once on the island we journey north to Talisker Distillery, or alternatively the fairy pools at glen Brittle. It’s then onto Portree our overnight stay for the next two evenings. arrival time approx 6 pm.

Day 4- A full day to explore Skye. Firstly we follow the spectacular Trotternish Ridge, to view the Old man of Stoer, Kilt Rock and the Quirang a series of prehistoric landslips and dramatic pinnacles. Moving on we then visit the Museum of Highland Life, and Flora McDonalds Monument, before heading to the mysterious Fairy Glen. Onto Dunvegan Castle,now ancestral home of the Clan MacLeod, for over 8oo yrs. We then make our way back to Portree, for the evening. arrival time approx 6 pm.

Day 5- We leave the island by way of the Skye Bridge to the evocative Eilean Donan Castle, one of most photographed castles in Scotland. We then journey through the magnificent “Five Sisters of Glen Shiel” ( photo stops along the way) and Glen Morriston to the mysterious Loch Ness, home of ” Nessie” the monster. Options here to perhaps enjoy a 1 hour cruise to capture that allusive image, or visit Urquhart Castle where most sightings of ” Nessie” have been seen. From here it’s then onto Inverness, for the evening. arrival time approx 6 pm.

Day 6 – We start the day with a visit to Culloden Battlefield, sight of the last battle ever fought between the Jacobite army led by Bonnie Prince Charlie and Government troops in 1746. From here we make the short journey to the Clava Cairns an iron age burial site, before heading south through the Cairngorm Mountains to the pretty Victorian Town of Pitlochry for lunch or a wander round the towns many gift shops. Continuing on we shall visit the Hermitage waterfall and the impressive Dunkeld Cathedral, before making our way to Edinburgh, or wherever you are based.
