The Kelpies and Stirling Castle

On this Edinburgh shore excursion, we leave port and travel west. Along the way, we’ll pass Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Crowned after her father’s death at only six days old.

We will then visit The Kelpies. One of the newest and most fascinating attractions in central Scotland. They stand an impressive 30 metres tall, set in a newly developed park on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal.

The Kelpies are the world’s largest equine sculptures. A testament to the horsepower that drove the industrial development of Scotland. There are opportunities all over the park to take pictures from every angle.

Leaving the Kelpies behind, our next stop is the city of Stirling. Home to one of Scotland’s most magnificent and important castles.

The imposing 15th-century Stirling castle was once a favored residence of the Stewart kings & queens. A place where grand celebrations took place, from royal christenings to extravagant coronations.

There is a great deal to see and explore here in the castle and its grounds. Including the impressive Great Hall, The Royal Chapel, and the elegant Royal Palace.

You could easily spend the whole day here at the castle, but unfortunately, time is limited. So your guide will make sure you make the very most of your visit.

Trossachs National Park & Loch Lomond

Continuing on with our Edinburgh shore excursion. We journey through stunning wild mountain scenery forests and lochs of The Trossachs National Park. Sometimes referred to as “The Highlands in Miniature”.

We then travel to the romantic shores of Loch Lomond. Home to Scottish outlaw and highland folk hero Rob Roy MacGregor.

Scotland’s largest loch is set amidst a truly stunning backdrop. And you will have time to explore it’s legendary “bonnie banks”. You’ll also get a chance to visit the picturesque village of Balmaha. Where you can take in the fabulous views of the surrounding mountains.

Leaving Loch Lomond behind, we make our way back to port in Edinburgh. We will take an alternative route through the stunning countryside. This will allow you to capture the beauty of the Trossachs from a different perspective.

A perfect end to your Edinburgh shore excursion.
