Greenock Shore Excursion Itinerary

On this Greenock shore excursion, you will be greeted at the port by your own personal kilted driver/guide.

Leaving port we head to Glasgow, to view the magnificent 12th-century Cathedral and nearby Necropolis. We then journey to the imposing 15th century Stirling Castle, one the grandest medieval castles in Scotland. This was the sight of many a bloody battle against invading armies. As we arrive at the castle esplanade, you will view fantastic vistas of the Wallace Monument, completed in 1867, to commemorate Wallace’s decisive victory at Stirling Bridge.

After a tour of the castle. we leave Stirling and travel to the stunning 15th century Doune Castle, which has played host to many movie locations. These include Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the Game of Thrones. More recently it was Castle Leoch, ancestral home of Colum MacKenzie, in the popular fantasy series Outlander.

Continuing on from Doune, we take the back roads along beautiful Trossachs countryside and over the scenic “Dukes Pass” finally arriving at the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, Scotland’s most iconic loch. Here you will have time to explore the scenic village and perhaps enjoy lunch at the excellent Oak Tree Inn, serving traditional Scottish fayre. In the afternoon we leave the shores of Loch Lomond, then make our way back to port via the scenic route.

Alternative option- As an alternative to lunch at the Oak Tree, why not experience a tour of Glengoyne Whisky Distillery and discover the ancient art of Whisky distilling. Enjoy a dram of single malt with some friends and family.
