Edinburgh Itinerary

Leaving Edinburgh, we journey north over the Forth Road Bridge which gives us spectacular views of the iconic Victorian Forth Rail Bridge, completed in 1890 and regarded as one of the engineering wonders of the world.

As we travel through the Kingdom of Fife, we reach the extensive grounds of Scone Palace. Until 843 AD, this was the ancient capital of the Picts.  Kenneth MacAlpin was crowned King of the Scots & Picts using the Stone of Scone, also known as the Stone of Destiny, to legitimise the coronation.

After a tour of the gothic palace & grounds, we travel along the scenic back roads to the beautiful picture-postcard town of Dunkeld, where we will explore the romantic grounds of the towns 13th-century cathedral and quaint narrow streets.

Moving on, we keep to the scenic Perthshire back roads, through the dramatic landscape of Sma’ Glen, also known as the Narrow Glen, to The Glenturret Distillery for an in-depth tour of the Famous Grouse Experience and a tasting of Glenturret single malt whiskey.

From Glenturret, we then make the 40 minutes drive to visit the magnificent Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s grandest medieval castles. If time permits, you can explore the grounds of the castle and the impressive 16th-century structures, including the Royal Palace and the Great Hall. From the castle esplanade, you can view spectacular vistas of the National Wallace Monument, completed in 1869 to commemorate Sir William Wallace, ( Braveheart) Scotland’s 13th-century hero. From Stirling, we make our way back to your accommodation and sadly say our farewells.
