Greenock Shore Excursion Itinerary

On this Greenock shore excursion, you will be greeted at the port by your own personal kilted driver/guide, who will then transport you to the beautiful Highlands of Scotland.
Firstly we visit the idyllic conservation village of Luss, situated on the “Bonnie Bonnie” banks of Loch Lomond.
As you wander along the picturesque village and quaint stone cottages, you arrive at the village Kirk ( church) and it’s fascinating churchyard.  View the Kirk’s 11th century Viking hogs-back gravestone, a reminder of times when Vikings once plundered local communities in this area.
From the churchyard, we then amble onto the village pier to view the stunning vistas that surround Loch Lomond. Take in the magnificent mountains and the lochs’ many islands known as Inchs.

Continuing on from Luss, we follow the shores of Loch Lomond and into the Highlands where the landscape gives way to dramatic high mountaintops and wide open spaces. As we drive further into the Highlands we arrive at the popular highland village of Tyndrum. We then take a quick rest stop at the iconic Green Welly.

From here we then travel along the scenic back roads through Glen Lochy to visit the enchanting and historic St Conan’s Kirk, then make a photo stop at the impressive 15th-century Kilchurn Castle, once an ancient stronghold of the Clan Campbell.

Sticking to the scenic back roads we then drive to the pretty Highland town of Inverary. Here you will have free time to explore the local attractions, including the splendid Inverary Castle, current home of the ” Duke of Argyll” or perhaps enjoy lunch at the excellent 18th century George Hotel. If the weather is kind, why not enjoy some traditional fish & chips on the shores of Loch Fyne.

In the afternoon, we leave Inverary and take a leisurely drive along the shores of Loch Fyne, to view the scenic  “the Rest and be Thankful” mountain pass and old military road, constructed by soldiers in 1753. We then make our way back to port passing Loch Lomond along the way, but from a different perspective.
