My name is Ricky Henderson, a proud native Scot, born and raised in the west end of Glasgow. I founded About Scotland Tours in 2010 to offer flexible, private experiences for travellers exploring Scotland from cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh.

About Scotland offer private tours that are flexible, relaxed and genuinely enjoyable, without the rigid schedules of large coach tours.

From the beginning, I wanted our guests to experience Scotland at a natural pace. By avoiding fixed timetables, we’re able to spend more time exploring historic castles, ancient Neolithic sites and the kind of hidden places that most visitors never see.

A Lifelong Passion for Scotland

For more than 30 years, I’ve had a deep passion for Scotland — its landscapes, history and diverse regional cultures. From the Highlands and islands to the rugged mountain glens and west coast, I’ve spent decades exploring the country beyond the main tourist routes.

This local knowledge allows us to introduce our guests to Scotland in a way that simply isn’t possible on rigid bus tours. Every journey is shaped by real experience, not generic itineraries.

Our Driver-Guides

All of our friendly, knowledgeable driver-guides have extensive experience touring the Highlands and islands of Scotland. They’ll introduce you to hidden gems and travel along quieter back roads whenever possible, avoiding large crowds.

Your guide will look after every aspect of your tour — from recommending great places for lunch to suggesting the best local restaurants and evening options. You’ll also have peace of mind knowing your guide is always close by and available should you need assistance during your trip.

Our Vehicles

We operate luxury Mercedes mini-coaches, designed for comfort and small group travel. Our fleet includes:

• Mercedes Viano (extra-long wheelbase) — seating up to 6 passengers with maximum comfort and extra legroom
• Mercedes Sprinter mini-coach — a fully converted, top-of-the-range vehicle seating up to 8 passengers, ideal for families, golf groups and whisky tours

All vehicles are equipped to provide a comfortable and relaxed journey throughout Scotland.
